Insufficient supply of raw materials, Indian government restricts drug exports

2020-03-05

The Indian government announced on March 3, 2020 that it will now restrict the export of 26 active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and drugs made from them, including paracetamol, to give priority to domestic demand because the COVID-19 epidemic has severely disrupted the supply chain .

The 26 APIs and drugs listed by the Indian government account for 10% of all Indian drug exports, including several antibiotics such as tinidazole and erythromycin, the hormone progesterone and vitamin B12.

Although India has become the world's most important generic drug producer, more than 70% of its APIs need to be imported from China. Under the impact of the epidemic in China and the decline in exports, the Indian government can only stop exporting. Priority is given to ensuring domestic supply.

In the past two weeks, most of the API factories in China have resumed work, and we have restored market supply. The following products, our company has high-quality, stable suppliers and sources of goods, welcome to consult.
